“Just because he was steady fucking does not mean he was hot” is an incredibly true line 🤣🤣 your writing is so entertaining, I just might start watching
I've been having similar thoughts lol. I'm enjoying the show overall. It's fun because there are easily guessable moments but I don't think the point is the mystery, I think we are all watching to observe the replay, of that makes sense?
It's creative and not a reboot so I'm here for it lol.
I definitely want them to go deeper into how people were chosen too, and I want more on the Elon Musk lady.
😂😂😂 by far the funniest and most accurate representation of this show. I’ve said numerous times in my head, “Sterling looked at this role and said, I’m giving my best Denzel”.
The fact he always knows everything but doesn’t seem to know much is hilarious to me. I always think he’s thinking ahead and not until episode 4 did things start to kind of click for him. He’s like aggressively aloof. Also, i wish his dad was my granddad 😭😭.
That’s such a good way of putting it, “he always knows everything but doesn’t seem to know much.” His attitude is WILD for someone who spends the first four episodes playing a lotta catch-up
Haha nah for real. Always taking the moral high ground is annoying but things have taken a turn for hopefully the best.
And also to your point, how tf did they choose these people? How was he even chosen? What is the end goal here?! So many questions but much like the Madness, I can’t stop watching it.
I was with you until you said you weren't a "This Is Us girlie." How can that be??😀 But, I forgive you, because I agree with pretty much everything else you said (except the hankering for cheese fries, since I'm vegan).
I LOVED "This is Us" and it was actually the fact that Sterling K. Brown was in "Paradise," plus its dystopian premise, that got me watching. End of Ep. 5 to the end of Ep. 6 really made me sit up in my chair and cheer Xavier/Brown on, but now I've got concerns. I won't say more, in case I've already said too much.
Yeah, "I have a message from the president" and "I'll tell you everything tomorrow" were two places where I was unable to suspend disbelief. I admit to a bit of eye-rolling there. Seemed like the writers used that the drive the plot in a way that was not believable. But, I forgive them, too.
Thanks for this post. I look forward to the next episode --and your thoughts going forward!
I watched one Thanksgiving episode of This Is Us with my sister and was crying the entire time! I didn’t even know those people! I just didn’t have the strength for alladat on a weekly basis 😅
LMAO. Oh, yes, there is that. I totally get it. I guess I am a glutton for punishment, as every episode made me marvel at the writers'/producers'/directors'/actors' ability to move me to tears every week. You are doubly-forgiven.😁
I am watching and your review made me giggle. It is spot on and yes, I will continue to watch Paradise. I did love The Is US...I am a Sterling K. Brown fan...yes on the "shower" scene, LOL. The show is cheesy and so good for all that is happening now in our country. Thanks for the review, and the chuckles.
I was out on the show after the second episode and honestly even that was stretching it cuz I groaned about the tired dead wife arc. It just felt so manipulative (fogelman’s specialty!). Despite me loving Julianne N (the real mvp of the show - I’m tired of SKB doing these types of roles), I just didn’t care about this world at all. But damn, maybe I need to check out that shower scene!
I can’t watch it week-to-week anymore because it’s definitely crossed over into soap territory but I am looking forward to the binge once it’s done. The drop-off from “is this Silo pt 2” to “oh…I see how this came from the same writer as This is Us” was precipitous but I’m still here for the corny ride, albeit in more measured doses. And Elon is nowhere near that smart

Dan Fogelman better cut me a check if you do start watching!

Oh absolutely that makes sense. We’re here to watch everything fall into place and go “ahhhh,” not to solve anything, really.
And Julianne Nicholson is really crushing the role of Elanna Musk! Her monologue about not wanting to heal had me in TEARS.

Weren’t you listening, Quay? He’s her wildcard (😒🤨🙄)

Thanks so much for reading!

Definitely check out that scene at the very least! And I’ll say, the dead wife arc…it MAY not be what you (and I, tbh) expected 🤐
ok, maybe i'll give it another go! Also regarding Shahi's character being a lesbian: I just will never NOT see her as her L-word character lolll
lol as soon as she showed up my wife was like “oooh she was on The L-Word!” She better get a girlfriend on this show!

I think it was the music that made me realize it. The slow cover of a previously mentioned song from the ‘80s or ‘90s in eh-ver-ee episode 😫
I have never heard of this show and I never watched This Is Us but now I want cheese fries and when I scrolled and saw that shower gif I said “Ooo”
May do a lil weekly cheese fries situation while I watch!
Maybe different types of cheese fries for each episode
I watched the first episode, enjoyed it, but wasn't sure I would keep going. Think this convinced me to.
